This beautifully detailed jewelry box is ready to be part of your collection. Inside the box it's covered with red velvet fabric. Brass hardware closure and hinges. This is an absolutely beautiful conversation piece for an office table or any Chinoiserie home decor style. Camphor boxes were used for storing and carrying sillk, tea and porcelain from China to Europe in the 18 and 19th centuries. Known for its fresh fragrance, camphor wood is native to Southeast Asia. It is a natural repellent against wood-boring insects and moths, and therefore, is ideal for storage.
