Fascinating Fun Facts: • Hazel-Atlas was one of America’s “Big Four” glass manufacturers of the Depression era, producing millions of pieces between 1902 and 1964. • The company became famous for its bright, saturated colors — cobalt, amethyst, green, pink — which photographed and displayed beautifully even in low-light kitchens of the 1930s. • The Newport “Hairpin” pattern was produced from 1936–1940 and was loved for its Art Deco petal motif and frosted inserts. • The “Hairpin” nickname comes from the curved arc pattern around the rim, which resembles old-fashioned metal hairpins used in women’s 1930s waved hairstyles.
