Description

This is an original vintage Valley People Dyna-Mite (Dynamite) from the late 1970s or early 1980s—a truly iconic analog stereo compressor/limiter/expander that has been my go-to secret weapon for years. I’ve used the plug-in version numerous times, and it simply doesn’t come close to the rich, punchy analog magic of this hardware. • This unit has been in the rack at my personal, non-smoking studio for 20 years and has served me exceptionally well, but it’s time to pass it along to someone else as I make room for new gear. • It has a little rack rash, but overall it’s in excellent condition for its age. All functions work, though it does occasionally have some scratchy pots—nothing unusual for a unit of this vintage, and a quick exercise of the knobs keeps it running smoothly. Why It’s So Amazing:
The Dyna-Mite (Dynamite) is an absolute secret weapon for snare drum parallel compression and is killer on drums overall. Its auto-release circuit (originally called Anticipatory Release) ensures ultra-fast release times without interfering with the control waveform’s attack, making it perfect for aggressive drum sounds or subtle buss control. This legendary unit is versatile enough to crush drum room mics, gate noise, or add punch to your busses, and its unmistakable analog character makes it a classic tool for any serious engineer or producer.
