Description

I'm selling my 2007 Ford Explorer 4.6L with 289,391.5 miles on it. Registration has expired and cannot legally be driven on the street until emissions pass. The car does run and drive, however, due to misfire and personal prognosis (I think it's due to a head gasket issue) no test drives allowed. If you want this, know it will be work to fix it up, but it can be driven onto a trailer to tow away. I would not recommend driving it home, but once in your possession, up to you. The engine has a misfire that throws a CEL. I've done the work to investigate this and it needs a new head gasket or engine swap. I've rebuilt the front timing components with OEM parts about 20,000 miles ago, but since this misfire, the car failed to pass emissions and has not been registered since 2025. Transmission was rebuilt at about 200,000 miles according to the previous owner (family) and is solid (no shift issues) when driving. I have replaced many parts and spent time over the years to make sure this was the reliable family car, but decided to purchase a newer vehicle for the family instead of fixing this further because I think it needs major work. Good: -Tires were only a few months old before CEL and registration expired. (Replaced all 5-including the spare) -Replaced timing components with new OEM (~20k miles) -Replaced all new ignition coil packs -Replaced all new spark plugs -Replaced all new injector wire connectors -Replaced all new ignition coil pack connectors -Transmission has lots of life left since it was rebuilt -Has newer optima battery (yellow top) from Aug '23 and has been on trickle charger when not in use -Starter was recently replaced (it's a royal PITA) -Carpet is smoke free and was deep cleaned -Middle and rear leather seats have no rips/tears -All windows work up and down -Various parts replaced within 1yr before it sat (suspension, clutch fan, entire AC system, Radiator, Pulleys, serpentine belt, Throttle body, Accelerator pedal, and more I can't remember) Not Good: -Engine CEL misfire -Expired Registration (due to failed emissions from CEL) -Driver Seat leather condition -Driver Seat does not move forward/back -Passenger Seat leather condition -3rd row seats don't go down (needs new motors) -Dent on the rear door (fixable) -Radio has missing pixels -AC only works when misfire is not occurring -Rear door cards have internal plastics broken for arm rests -Steering wheel was starting to show wear signs so it has cover on it now -Windshield has a small ding in it from a rock Car could still have life in it with a new engine or head gasket replacement... I just don't want to invest time and money into it. My loss your gain. Cash offers only.
