Description

The Airport Express can act as a wireless router, WiFi range extender, or can connect your speakers to a WiFi network for AirPlay using the integrated headphone jack. Compact, reliable, and fast, the Apple Airport Express A1264 54 Mbps 10/100 wireless N router makes creating a wireless network at home an easy task. This router supports DHCP, offering exceptional performance whether you are using the Internet for gaming, streaming media, or simply browsing. The Apple Airport Express A1264 supports bandwidth speeds of up to 54 Mbps, which is far greater than many of the more basic models. Use the MAC address filtering option to ensure only your devices are allowed connection through the router and parental control to restrict access overnight or to specific Web addresses. Boasting a configurable 40-bit and 128-bit WEP encryption, the Apple Airport Express A1264 provides secure browsing you can count on. Like the original AirPort Express Base Station, released in 2004, Apple’s latest version is a Wi-Fi access point compact enough (3.6 by 2.9 by 1.1 inches, 6.7 ounces) to fit in a laptop bag and designed to plug directly into an electrical outlet. You can use the Express to create a wireless network of its own or to extend the range of a network provided by another Express or by an AirPort Extreme Base Station ($179). Security options include WPA and WPA2 encryption—Personal and Enterprise versions—as well as the older WEP. When providing its own network, the Express’s built-in Ethernet port lets you share a wired, broadband Internet connection—or extend an existing wired LAN—to wireless clients. When extending an existing wireless network, the Ethernet port can be used to connect non-wireless devices to the wireless network, directly or through an Ethernet hub or switch.
