Description
Selling this beautiful antique Brunswick Model 210 phonograph console, made by the Brunswick-Balke-Collender Co. (retailed through The Wiley B. Allen Co.), circa early 1920s. I picked this up to play some shellac 78s I’ve collected, and it plays them just fine but I was informed in different forums that I may want to get something else as this unit is best suited to play records from the acoustic recording era (roughly up through the mid-1920s) — that’s what these machines were originally built for, and they sound their best on that material. It can physically play later shellac 78s too, but heads up: because the reproducer is heavier than modern styli, repeated plays on later or well-worn discs can accelerate groove wear. If you’re planning to spin your shellac records often rather than occasionally, keep that in mind. The cabinet is structurally sound, the surface can use some restoration as you can see in the pictures but it’s truly surface level stuff. Located in Glendale, sad to part but I need to find something better suited for what I need and this one can find a better home x
