This is produced locally by R + E Cycles in the U-District (more info here: https://offerup.co/faYXKzQFnY?$deeplink_path=/redirect/ Here’s why we loved this bike - when you’ve got a kid (the stoker) who bores easily being an inactive passenger on a cargo bike but doesn’t yet have the physical stamina and street smarts to manage longer rides on their own bike, put them in the stoker’s seat on this bike and suddenly they’re part of the adventure. Does it always work out that way? No. But, we found it to be a terrific way to involve our kiddo in the world of “grown-up” cycling without them having to be on their own bike in the sometimes crazy carmageddon world of city cycling. Trying to figure out how to safely expose your kids to riding in unprotected bike lanes (sharrows?) and negotiating left hand turns in traffic? Riding with them on a tandem let us ease them into these situations while maintaining at least a sense of safety and control over the situation. And if the grown-up cyclist (the captain) happens to get tuckered out on the way home, you’ve got a backup power source to give you a turbo boost. Price includes stoker kit and adjustable stem and handlebar combo (flat and drop bars for stoker). Will consider selling without stoker kit for slight discount.
