Description

St. Kateri Tekakwitha Statue 1st Native American Saint 8” Figurine Excellent like-new pre-owned condition. No cracks or chips. Inspirational First Native American Saint Perfect special occasion gift Product Details St. Kateri Tekakwitha is the first Native American to be named a saint of the Catholic Church and is known as the Lily of the Mohawks. This stunning statue from the Veronese Collection of Goldscheider of Vienna is a fitting tribute to this Algonquin-Mohawk woman. The statue is made of resin and stands 8 inches tall. It is finished with beautiful hand painting in deep rich colors of deep red and tans. Attention has been given to the detailing of the statue and this outstanding and intricate detailing can be seen, in particular, in the fringes of her dress and shawl, the petals of the lilies she is holding and, in the feather, found on her hair band. A plate on the base features her name. St. Kateri converted to the Catholic religion when she was 20 and took the name Catherine. Her family died of small pox and her face was severely scarred. She spent her last years in a Jesuit mission and died at the early age of 24. She was canonized in 2012 and is the patron saint of the environment, ecology, exiles and Native Americans. Her feast day is July 14. This is a unique statue of an unusual saint and will add a touch of stunning beauty to your home or office.
