Description
Highly unusual, rare and extremely hard to find early 20th century antique american industrial lady stocking leg form fabricated by or for the Philadelphia Drying Machinery Company. This industrial art object is comprised of steel, with original highly polished nickel-plated finish largely intact. The electrical cord is worn and the leg form itself has slight scratches and show its many years. This amazing and unique form was originally used in a manufacturing process known as "boarding", whereby the pantyhose or stocking is stretched over a dry or moist leg form or "board" and subjected to steam and/or heat treatments employed to achieve the desired size and shape. It measures approximately 7 x 40 inches. *I have described this item to the best of my ability
