Description

Dimensions: Long: 6ft Wide: 34 inches This unique one of a kind reclaimed wooden table and benches was designed by a local artist from the Melrose Trading Post in the West Hollywood area. The design of the lightening bolt that goes through the wood is a special technique called, “Lichtenberg – Verfahren”. It is a German technique that was discovered in1777. Two electrodes are then placed on the wood and a high voltage is passed across them. Current from the electrodes will cause the surface of the wood to heat up until the electrolyte boils and the wooden surface burns. Because the charred surface of the wood is mildly conductive, the surface of the wood will burn in a pattern outwards from the electrodes. It is a wonderful table and I hope I find a good home for it.
