JVC Victor SX-500 Spirit Bookshelf Speaker Made in Japan Pair A 2-way peaker system that eliminates chemical materials as much as possible in order to achieve natural playback sound. A 20 cm cone type woofer is installed in the low range. Cone paper from Kurt Muller, West Germany, is used for the diaphragm of this unit, enabling voluminous bass reproduction even when Riki Oire is in use. A 3.5 cm soft dome type tweeter is installed in the high range. The diaphragm is made of habutae silk, which is also used for the shutter curtain of single-lens reflex cameras, and laminated with thin-curtain rubber. This realizes a diaphragm with a soft dome yet light and flexible. In addition, by adopting a hemispherical dome shape, it realizes excellent directional characteristics. Alnico magnets are used in the magnetic circuits of all units, and the driving force is increased by adopting an internal magnetic structure with high magnetic flux and low leakage. The front baffle is made of laminated plywood made of maple with moderate sound velocity and internal loss, and is designed to take into consideration the sound of the cabinet itself. In addition, 100% wool is used for the internal sound absorbing material to improve the S/N ratio of audibility. The exterior is finished with oak, and all 6 sides including the back are finished with wood grain.
