EXCELLENT example of the still VERY cool VGN-UX series! Installed with a 64GB SSD instead of the original 32GB device. Not only is the installed drive bigger it is almost TWICE AS FAST as the original Sony unit in Crystal diskmark. Also upgraded is the WIFI card...the original Intel 3845ABG card has been replaced with a Intel 6235 Advanced N wifi card. Installed with an activated copy of Windows 7 Professional. All drivers installed and all devices work...including the WWAN module and both front and rear cameras. If you prefer to downgrade to the originally installed Vista Business OS the OEM restore partition is intact and will perform this task. Software included by Sony can be reinstalled from this restore partition too. The WWAN module requires a subscription and may not be supported any longer but it does turn on and the green LED activates...beyond that it is untested. WIFI from your phone will be MUCH faster hence the newer wireless card. Screen has only one tiny blemish which in no way affects operation and is not really visible except with a bright light reflecting on the screen. One of the original touchscreens in the industry it works only with the stylus which is included. Can be used in landscape or portrait orientation. The docks station lacks the original plastic plate to support the UX when docked but used a rubber pad for the same purpose. Works fine...see pics. Battery still holds a good charge and lasts about 1 hour in DVD playback from an external optical drive or longer in web browsing.
