The painting is an abstract expressionist work by Arshile Gorky. While Gorky’s early work reflected a Cubist influence, this piece aligns more closely with his late style from 1943 to 1947, when his art evolved toward bold biomorphic abstraction. During this mature period, Gorky employed luminous colors and organic, interlocking forms that evoke themes of nature, growth, and rebirth. The composition’s fluid shapes—resembling seeds, leaves, and pods—are characteristic of his celebrated series Garden in Sochi and The Plough and the Song. The artist’s signature, “a. gorky,” appears in the lower right corner. I’m selling this as is, I do know have a certificate of authenticity.
