He bought it from his close friend years back who had owned the car since new. The car came out of a family of true automotive enthusiasts, the family having actually owned and operated a corvette tuning and racing outfit. This car served as the previous owners around-town summer driver, the body has accrued 208k miles but the engine, transmission, suspension and exhaust have all been overhauled through the combined 35-year ownership. All serious work was performed at “The Corvette Shop” in San Diego. In the early 2000s the car was hit by a hail storm and the insurance company totaled it out. However, with all the work that has been put into the new engine, and tuning, Bob bought the car from the insurance company and had the body professionally restored to new. According to Bob, the car was always garage-kept and babied, and the condition for its age and mileage are head and shoulders above expectations as the car sits now is pretty impressive. This Corvette is sure to make the next owner very happy. I personally have little experience with Corvettes but both owners have meticulously maintained and documented every service record. I took ownership of this car 8 months ago and haven't had the time to go though and fix the little cosmetic and minor electrical issues one would expect from a car like this. I have however, done a full mechanical audit with a local corvette mechanic and have listed the findings below for the next owner to pick up where Bob left off. I've only put maybe 100 miles on it. Exterior: - Please see the pictures along with the listing. Blemishes are limited to a few little chips scattered about, some paint fading on the hood, as well a somewhat scuffed-up black plastic front lip. Condition is consistent with a garaged/covered car that has been responsibly kept since new. - This cars paint was restored 15 years ago and aside from some weathering, the paint presents extremely well. A nice, glassy finish. - Glass is all clear and crack-free. Light lenses are also clear and crack-free. Lights and signals are all functional. There are times when the front headlight refuses to pop up but the motor works well. - Weatherstripping likely needs to be replaced throughout. - Door panels on the inside need to be replaced. The previous owner had the driver side window motor replaced and hadn’t put the door panels back on. The passenger window motor was working when I got it inspected, but its currently not rolling up. It may just be a loose wire from the driver side door panel exposure. - Aftermarket 16” x 8.5” rims are in okay shape, with no curb rash, pitting, or other damage. However, they are missing one wheel cap. Some signs of age on the tires. One of the tires needs to be replaced ASAP. Interior: - Graphite leather compliments very well with the midnight black exterior. Seats are in impressive condition. The previous owner stated that when he had them covered for the last 15 years. - Carpeting shows a little bit of discoloring and wear along the sides and should be replaced or professionally cleaned in order for this car to really be outta-this-world. - Dash is in great shape. There's a little spot of adhesive in the center, but no cracks, or warping. The digital dash display is fully functional. Odometer is functional and the reading of 208k miles is known to be accurate. - Radio is not functional but can easily be replaced with a unit from Amazon. I am uncertain if the speakers work. - Fan and heat are functional. Air conditioning needs to be recharged but can be in working order easily. The compressor does kick on but honestly, it’s hard to know whether that's AC-cooled air or not. Regardless, the compressor is functional and it has been converted, so worst case it would just need a top-up of refrigerant. Mechanical / Underbody: - Please take a look through the photos, as the car is documented in detail. This car is excellent underneath. There is some oxidation on the original mufflers but aside from that the car is extremely clean underneath. - The car runs and drives every bit as well as you would hope and expect from a well-taken-care-of Corvette. It feels like new. Nice and tight. Truly no tendencies or noises of concern. It starts right up, idles cool/steady/quiet, pulls hard through the gears with no hesitation, shifts smoothly and on-time, brakes straight and effectively, and the ride quality is excellent.
