Description

Wedgwood England 1960s Blue Jasperware Octagonal Trinket Box Sacrifice Scene A beautiful box with a classical soul — perfect for keepsakes, rings, or rituals of your own. Great vintage condition consistent with its age - no chips, cracks or damages. Defects & imperfections - please check pictures made under the bright light & magnification: skuffs at broom of the box Pictures are part of the description, please check them & let me know if you require additional ones. Fascinating Fun Facts: • The top relief shows a Roman-style offering at an altar — honoring Concordia, goddess of harmony. • That leafy border is oak leaves and acorns, often used by Wedgwood to signify strength and tradition. • This style of jasperware was a favorite souvenir for American tourists in the 1950s–70s — classy, compact, and oh-so collectible. • Jasperware is an unglazed stoneware (a type of ceramic) invented by Josiah Wedgwood in the 1770s. • Josiah Wedgwood was deeply influenced by ancient Roman artifacts and collaborated with artists like John Flaxman to translate them into relief designs.
