This bike was completely rebuilt in January & hasn’t been ridden since May; (I switched over to a Specialized Road Bike). The frame was part of the bike that won the CA Cyclecross Championship a few years back. The whole bike is in excellent condition, (but for some flaking on the seat). This 500 Series OCLV Carbon frame is part of the Gary Fisher collection, with Trek helping to realise the designs created by the man himself. This means that they each have the Fisher Control Column (FCC) at the front, which has been specially engineered in order to maintain frame stiffness while tightening up handling. Cyclocross bikes typically fall into the road racing category, although they are far more than just aimed at taking on the tarmac, because grass and mud holds no problems for them. The Trek Cronus CX cycles are both well constructed and designed, with the differences in component selection allowing you to enjoy the same underlying capabilities of a carbon framed bike that is stiff and easy to manipulate. Bikes of this kind need to inspire confidence in the rider so that they can make the most of their talents, which is certainly something that can be said of both these Trek models.
