Description
Antique Hand Painted Limoges AKD France & GDA France Floral Porcelain Plate. Dimensions: 8.5" in diameter. Good condition, no chips or cracks. About AKD: A. Klingenberg operated a porcelain factory and decorating studio in Limoges beginning in the 1880s. His company merged with Charles Dwenger’s decorating studio in the 1890s. This company went off business in 1910. The AKD mark was used from the 1890s to 1910. About GDA: GDA was a factory in Limoges, France that produced specifically for the export market to the US from France. The GD stands for E. Gerard et Dufraiuseix. The A stands for Abbott, the importer and distributor for these wares in NYC. GD bought Charles Haviland around 1882 and added A in 1901. The mark was used until 1941. Thus, this plate was made between 1901 and 1941.
