Description

1 OF ONLY 2 LISTED IN THE USA CURRENTLY Technically not new only because this was printed + distributed in 1976 (43 years ago). It has remained rolled since then. All art/calendar pages pristine with 1 bottom corner of each page having a .5 inch tear (on border area + completely unnoticeable). Front cover is a parchment type sheet with a copy of the Declaration. Each month has original prints by Joe Ferrara (1932-2004). Metal strip at the top NEVER UNROLLED/DISPLAYED--STORED AS RECEIVED IN 1976-- This calendar was a special US Bicentennial promotional item by Winchester. They commissioned Joe Ferrara, an American artist (1932-2004) who painted the Southwest mainly, to provide art for their annual calendar beginning in 1967. These have become much sought after collector items as many try to find every year. The Bicentennial was special, and Ferrara created artwork of the Revolutionary War period. The cover page of the 1976 calendar was a parchment copy of the Declaration of Independence and 1976 is among the most popular with collectors. As these were calendars, most were sent to dealers + shops where they were hung on the wall so not many survived in the same as issued rolled condition. I had 3 and one was a gift, one stays with me and the third is here for some lucky bidder. This 43 year old heavy-paper calendar is 28 inches tall + 21 inches wide. It has a metal strip at the top to hang it up properly. This one is rolled, so if you wish to hang it you have to reverse roll it. These appeal to anyone who appreciates the art in the Winchester firearms of the 1800s and 1900s and any Winchester collector, but since they are Revolutionary War themed art and includes the Declaration, any collectors of that era or Americana would love it as well. This would be THE ULTIMATE gift for that person who is hard to get gifts for. I can find only 1 other listed anywhere in the US currently, and recent + upcoming auctions with Ferrara's art do not have any. As a gift, it is something nobody else can buy, so no worries that someone else will get the same thing. An amazing piece to own + display and an even more amazing gift. The calendar and cover are pristine with that less than .5 inch corner tear on one bottom corner that is in the plain border. It actually looks like it is part of the design as the cover Declaration is aged. Ties with another (mine) as the finest condition examples I have seen.
