Description
This is the one you’ve been looking for! Here is a beautiful and fantastic sounding Marshall JMP 2204 amplifier made in early 1977, with matching late 70’s 4x12 cabinet loaded with 4 British-made Celestion G12M 25-watt Greenback reissue speakers. The amp is an early ’77 version, and is a rare one with all Mullard mustard caps on the board. To my ears, this brings out some of the Plexi heritage in the tone. The amp is fantastic sounding, cleans up beautifully when you roll back your volume, even when cranked. Has all the Marshall roar and kerrang that you are looking for in a vintage Marshall amp. The iron is all original. Everything works perfectly, and the amp plays incredibly. I had my friend who takes care of my Marshalls do a simple update for safety. The old-style ohm selectors are notorious for coming loose and blowing up output transformers, so he hard wired the speaker jacks for 8 ohms and 16 ohms, respectively. It is a simple and elegant solution to this common problem. Note that the back of the head shell has a dent in it from the previous owner. It doesn’t affect the amp in any way, other than cosmetically. In all other ways, this almost 50-year-old amp is in fantastic condition. This amp comes with a Marshall vinyl cover to help keep it in great shape. The 4x12 cabinet is also a beaut, with a nice grill cloth and logo, and casters that work perfectly. It is loaded with 4 British-made Celestion G12M 25-watt Greenbacks, and they sound great! Only some small blems on the cab, as follows: 2 of the corner protectors on the back top are missing, apparently, they protected the corners as they broke, LOL. There is a tear on the back that was glued down at some point, it doesn’t present any issue. There are some miscellaneous minor blems on the tolex in a few places, as you would expect on a nearly 50-year-old cabinet. Other than that, the cab is in simply great shape, as the photos attest. Come and play it, you will hear how fantastic it sounds. I’m selling off most of my remaining amps, and I was already down to the keepers, so anything I’m selling right now is the best of the best. Note that I will entertain separating the amp and cab for the right offer. The cabinet also goes very well with the JTM 45 I am also selling, so that is an option if you are more interested in the JTM 45 amp in my other ad. Please, no low-ball offers, note that I won’t send emails to your non-Craigslist email address, and no scams, please, I have seen them all. CASH AND CARRY, no trades considered.
