I purchased a truck through Autonation Ford Miami. The initial sales and finance process went smoothly, and I appreciated that they were willing to coordinate a cross-country transaction.

However, once the paperwork was signed and the vehicle was shipped, the experience deteriorated quickly.

When the truck arrived, there was an obvious 8-inch tear in the driver's seat—something not disclosed by the salesperson, Christopher. This damage would’ve been clear to anyone simply opening the driver’s door. By the time I discovered it, the vehicle was already delivered, leaving me with no recourse.

Before shipping, I was told the scuffs on the bumper and mirror would be repaired. These items weren’t included in the final "We Owe" document, but Christopher assured me they’d still take care of it. The repairs were not done.

After delivery, I was directed to take the truck to a local body shop. That shop estimated a 1-week turnaround. I asked Sergio, the GM, if a rental would be provided—he declined. I then gathered five quotes for mobile repairs, which ranged from $775–$1,000. The dealership only agreed to reimburse $450, stating that’s what it would’ve cost them.

Communication post-sale was atrocious. As my temp tags neared expiration, I had to follow up repeatedly by email and phone with no response. I finally got in touch with the title clerk directly, who overnighted new temp tags.

It took almost six weeks to resolve the issues—with repeated ignored follow-ups, delays in receiving the reimbursement check, and additional out-of-pocket costs for repairs and a seat cover that I was willing to purchase if the dealer would sell at cost (also ignored).

The buying process started well, but once the truck left the lot, support vanished. I would strongly caution others: get everything in writing and don’t expect much help after the sale.

Timeline Summary:

Aug 6: Finance paperwork signed.

Aug 8: Told bumper was being "fixed" and transport scheduled.

Aug 9: Truck picked up from Autonation Ford Miami.

Aug 13: Dealership requested proof of insurance and to add vehicle to policy—provided.

Aug 14: Saw truck at local Autonation Chevy; told it wouldn’t be ready until Friday. Sent photos of unrepaired bumper/mirror to Christopher.

Aug 18: Instructed to drop truck off for bumper repair. Christopher falsely claimed Howard (manager) had already contacted me. Promised "We Owe" document with managers signature —never received. Offered mobile repair alternative if I kept receipts.

Aug 19: Informed check couldn’t be issued until a paid invoice was submitted.

Aug 25: Bumper/mirror repairs completed; invoice sent to Christopher. Asked about tags—no response.

Aug 26: Followed up; Christopher said he was “working on it” and gave the invoice to Sergio for check processing.

Aug 28: Christopher claimed check request submitted to corporate; would follow up on tags—no update.

Aug 29–30: Reached out each day again for temp tag update—no response.

Sept 3: Another follow-up for temp tags—no response.

Sept 4: Sergio called me claiming check would arrive within a week.

Sept 6: Still no check or tag update. Called Sergio five times over 2 weeks —no answer. Still no response from Christopher regarding seat cover inquiry.

Sept 8: Spoke with title clerk directly—temp tags sent overnight.

Sept 9: Temporary tags received.

Sept 17: Contacted customer service (Tashana R) about the missing check. Emailed Sergio again—no response.

Sept 22–23: Multiple emails/calls to Sergio—no reply or voicemail returned.

Sept 24: Called dealership. Was told Sergio was in a meeting. Christopher finally got on the phone after three weeks of silence—claimed a “mix-up” with the check and said it was being sent overnight.

Sept 25: Refund check received.
