Description

A signed and dated oil painting on Masonite by Washington artist Hulan Fleming (1933–2006), titled “Dawn” and completed in 1967. Fleming was known for his atmospheric Pacific Northwest landscapes and coastal scenes, painted in a realist-impressionist style. Presented in its original, period, rustic gray wood frame that complements the subdued tones of the painting. The back of the Masonite board is inscribed with the title “Dawn” and the original 1967 price of $350 (over $3,200 in today’s dollars), reflecting its value at the time. Signed lower right: Hulan Fleming 67. Very good vintage condition. The Masonite panel is stable, with no cracks or visible repairs. The frame shows surface wear consistent with age, including paint loss and chips, dings, and splinters to the wood, but it remains solid and attractive. Frame size is 39" wide, 1.5" deep, 29.25" high. Visible painting is 29.5" wide and 19.5" high.
