All cars in this train set are in perfect working condition. The red & green locomotive #4068 has a light in front that lights up and makes sounds with a turn of the bell on top. You just push down on the black knob on top to make it start and stop. There is a conductor figure standing inside the engine car. The green tender car connects to the engine car with a connector cable. It is decorated with gold coal and houses 6 C batteries (included) which powers all 5 cars. There is a worker figure standing over where the cable connects to the engine car. There is also a hopper car from Union Pacific, a yellow Rio Grande box car, with a door that opens and closes, and a red Rio Grande caboose. Also included are 8 straight pieces of track and 12 pieces of curve track to make a nice oval shape. A remote control is included that takes a 9 volt battery (not included) but it has not been tested. The train can be run manually so the remote is not necessary.
