Description

Hey folks, Selling my rolleiflex 2.8 C, here’s the lowdown. The good: User grade: this might be a detractor for some folks, but to me this means I can use a camera without constant fear of getting it dinged up or bumped around since it’s already clearly got some miles on it The lens: the legendary 80mm 2.8 xenotar absolutely rips for portraits and renders landscape beautifully when stopped down. This model is the last rollei made with a 10 blade aperture, meaning that when stopped down around f4-f5.6, your out of focus areas are still cute little soap bubbles instead of pentagonal blobs. The viewfinder: This rollei comes equipped with an aftermarket bright screen equipped with the split prism focusing aid. Nice. It’s a little scratched up, but still looks great overall, and the mirror inside has just about all of its silver intact. Mechanically it works great, shutter speeds are accurate and everything works exactly as it should. The lens has cleaning marks on the front element and bits of dust, but I haven’t noticed any of those things to really affect the final image quality, especially when stopped down. The Bad. It’s got a stupid light leak in the taking lens baffle. This light leak closes up when focusing on far-away objects because of the lens retracting closer to the film plane, but when focusing on closer subjects and shooting into the light, that leak shows up as the white blobs in the upper corner. I’ve run a couple rolls through this camera already and it seems that when shooting in low light and with far focus subjects, this is mostly a non-isssue, but it’s still shows up from time to time in brighter settings. Attached are several photos from those rolls, showing off the leak, but also showing when things go right and how good the image quality is out of this camera. It’ll obviously need servicing to fix the leak so I’m asking 450 OBO.
