Good condition 1957 Gibson Southern Jumbo in sunburst. No breaks. This is a beautiful sounding example of a late 50’s Gibson SJ. Boomy, and one of the most resonant examples I’ve played. Some checking happening throughout the body, but no signs of abuse or mishandling. This example has had a recent neck reset, so the action is quite low and very playable. Frets have plenty of life left with minimal divots. Original pickguard is not lifting. Bridge does not need a re-glue. Original tuners work well and stay in tune. Intonation is on. Nicely smooth neck all the way up the fretboard, and the slimmer nut width makes this guitar very easy to play as well. Serial stamped on the neck block. This example has had a professional replacement of the back wood, but surprisingly the tone of the guitar does not seem to lack because of it. I will include the original back wood that the owner gave me if you would like to restore the back yourself for a more original example. The original wood is in good condition, but must have suffered a serious break or was stored for a long period. The original binding can still be seen throughout the back of the guitar. I will include everything I have in the case if you would like like to comb through the guitar and do the proper replacements. Comes with a new Roadrunner hard shell case as pictured.
