This receiver is highly sought after today At an official rating of 270 watts per channel into 8 ohms with a 2.3 dB dynamic headroom. This makes the SX-1980 Pioneer's most powerful receiver, as well as being one of the most powerful receivers ever manufactured in the world, to date. The SX-1980 is 22 inches wide, 19.5 inches deep, and 8.25 inches high; weighing 78 pounds (35 kg). It’s suggested retail price in 1978 was $1295.00 – a fairly large sum back in those days. Total harmonic distortion is rated at 0.03% which is extremely low for a power output that high. It has a massive toroidal transformer that is flanked by huge capacitors. It also has large heatsinks to dissipate the heat generated by the unit. I am going to take a hit on selling this, I don’t want to. It’s in like new condition.
