Description

This is an antique, unbranded, wood rocking chair which dates 1920’s, perhaps earlier. It is extremely simplistic; nothing fancy or complex. Appears to be handmade. No intricate carvings or spindles. Elementary ladder back. Measures approximately 22 1/2” wide x 29” deep (including the ends of the rockers). The seat height is 15” and the height of the back is 35 1/2”. Semi-gloss varnish. Very gently curved silhouette. Woven material seat which is intact. Remarkably, does not creak, when used. Despite its age, this rocker is in very good condition. Legs are securely attached to the curved rockers. Some scratches and small chips here-and-there, but nothing of significance and noticeable. It was built to last the test of time and it has prevailed! The cushion is old (1950’s), but not as old as the chair. My grandmother in Tennessee rocked 5 babies in this chair. This rocking chair will complement either traditional or contemporary decor. Despite its simplicity, it has character. It is quite basic, yet appealing. Cash only.
