Description

This is a 1 oz SilverTowne Prospector silver bullion bar (also commonly called the “Prospector and Donkey” or “Donkey Bar”), privately minted by the SilverTowne Mint in Winchester, Indiana. The design features SilverTowne’s iconic trademark image: a bearded prospector (often nicknamed “Pete”) walking while leading his heavily loaded pack donkey (or mule/burro) with a rope in one hand and a pickaxe in the other. The detailed packs on the donkey include tools like a shovel, gold pan, and supplies—evoking the classic American Old West gold rush era. This horizontal “retro” or vintage-style layout is one of the most recognizable and enduring designs in private silver bullion, produced since the 1970s/1980s with minor variations over time. It’s made of 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver, still in its original sealed plastic packaging for protection. The reverse (not shown) typically features a repeating waffle/crisscross pattern with the SilverTowne logo and repeated prospector motif in the center, along with weight and purity markings. SilverTowne’s Prospector series is hugely popular among stackers and collectors for its nostalgic appeal, quality, and low premiums—often nicknamed “donkey bars” in the community.
