NordicTrack is a excellent premium brand of exercising equipment, with well-deserved reputation for quality. While their products can be pricey, you can usually count on them being good. NorticTrack APEX 4100i (NTTL1890) treadmill is no exception. The machine looks simple but stylish, with the console being supported by two nicely curved poles. The 20 inches wide and 55 inches long treadbelt provides a large and comfortable walking surface, even for taller people who have longer stride. The deck is cushioned for reduced impact on the joints (walking on soft ground vs. walking on concrete). HP continuous duty motor. Two side handles are provided to hold on to during the workout. The maximum user weight is 300 pounds. The machine has the speed range from 0 to 12 miles per hour, which is higher than many other treadmills that only go up to 10 or 11 mph. The incline range is from 0 to 12%, and the incline increases or decreases a half-percent at a time, also with a touch of a button on the console. The console has a display that shows you all the regular data like speed, time, distance, calories burned, and heart rate (the machine has two small handles under the console with built-in heart rate sensors). There are 20 pre-set workout programs in this treadmill that will automatically change the speed and incline for you as you go. As usual, they start at a slower pace and then gradually increase the difficulty. The programs vary in intensity and type. Some of them are walking programs, others are jogging, and still others are running programs. The Manual mode allows you to in put your own settings. The machine is also iFit compatible, so you can download more programs from the Internet and use different workout CD’s and videos. The machine is not noisy. It folds up for easy storage.
