Description
I have been the proud owner of this 1971 Ericson 39 for 23 years over which time she has been completely refit, upgraded and maintained. I had no intention to ever sell her but life did what it does, changes are afoot and I have to let her go. I have heavily invested both money and labor into this yacht not because I expected a financial return (that would be silly) but because I love the boat and expected to sail her straight through to my Viking Funeral. My loss is the new owner’s gain. The Ericson 39, designed by the renowned Bruce King, was Ericson’s racer/cruiser made to compete under the International Offshore Rule (IOR), so a fast and strong foundation built to take on the open seas. These E39s, built in California, can be found all around the world including at least one circumnavigation. Later IOR designs became exaggerated and ungainly leading to a “warhorse” reputation, but the early designs such as the E39 were fast yet kindly in a seaway. As part of a complete refit, the deck layout was changed from the original setup for a crew of 7 to race to Hawaii to a layout ideal for Singlehanding, which also works perfectly for a couple or small crew. The flush deck design results in a stiff hull and deck, easily navigable decks with ample space, and increased cubic footage belowdecks. You will be hard pressed to find a yacht of this quality build, performance, cosmetic condition, and with this level of proper systems and gear anywhere near this price. A detailed description of the upgrades to this yacht is way too much for this ad, but a short list of representative highlights would include: -complete engine service 1/2025. Engine cooling system refit completed in late 2023. -new dodger with polycarbonate isinglass and cover. New mainsail cover. Pacific blue Sunbrella covers for everything. Detachable sailing awning. -new premium Elvestrom roller furling headsail on Harken furler and Garhauer EZ-Glide adjustable fairleads on the stainless steel toersil tracks. Hood asymmetric spinnaker in sock. Spinnaker pole deployed from mast track. Full batten UK main. Also 150% North ripstop deck sweeper, symmetrical chute, spare main, spare jib. -solar panels (mounted on custom stainless steel arch) upgraded to 185 watts (370 watt combined) 2 years ago. -new Garhauer stainless steel rigid vang. -upgraded to latest Raymarine Axiom 9 chartplotter and HD radome on Kato Marine mast mount. -new 3-blade feathering prop, cutless bearing, and PSS dripless shaft seal. -Raymarine below decks autopilot. -Alpenglow LED cabin lighting. So much more! Full specs, 132 pics, a 10 minute walkaround video and contact info for inquiries can be found on Yachtworld, or if you reach out to me I can send you a link and answer any questions. Thanks and fair winds! Gary
