Antique 19th century, circa 1890, French gilt patinated dore bronze hanging cherub / Cupid figural gas lamp light fixture that was converted to Electric around the 1920s. CLICK ON SEE MORE. 15" in overall length. With current chain, light fixture hangs 13" from the ceiling at the lowest point. This is a pendant type light fixture. Lamp designer's initials, A.S., appear on one of the flowers on the fixture. Excellent condition. Magnet does not stick. Beautiful patina. Fixture itself appears to be all original except for old conversion to electric. I tested the fixture, and although the wiring is intact, one socket needs to be replaced or repaired. I recommend rewiring simply for safety. I do not have the parts or the expertise, so I will leave replacement of the socket and or rewiring to the purchaser. Provenance of the fixture is known going back to at least 1945. Fixture was recently appraised for $500 to $900.
