Description
Martin records show only thirty one 2-28T-L guitars were produced from 1928-1929, only six 2-28T and 2-28T-L combined produced in 1928. The Style 28 tenors are found far less than the lower models. Serial number 37149 was stamped on November 8th, 1928 and cleared final inspection on November 22nd, just 2 weeks later! Leading me to believe this could be one of the earliest 2-28T-L guitars produced while they were still evolving their scale length. The “L” denotes a longer scale, moving from the standard 12-fret neck to a “long neck, 23” scale and 14-frets clear.” Amazing full bright tone and very loud. It has been professionally set up and the playability is excellent. There are some scratches and normal expected wear for a guitar that is 91 years old. Looks like some divots on the back of the neck from the previous owner's ring. Does not affect the playability at all. Check out the video for a preview {url removed} Original Geib & Schaeffer case with velvet lining and a single diamond on the case pocket lid (missing handle). Guitar features: •Back and sides: Brazilian rosewood •Top: Red Spruce (Adirondack) •Purfling: Herringbone made in Germany (pre-war) •Binding: Celluloid grained “Ivoroid” •Back stripe: Zig-zag pattern Tuners: Grover Other period features: •Scalloped X-bracing •Ebony fingerboard •Ebony straight bridge •No pick guard •C.F. Martin stamp on back of headstock •No silkscreened style stamp •Split diamond style pearl inlays •“Snake eye” bridge pins with tortoise shell inlay (used on style 28 models)
