MZ Altrohlau Czechoslovakia 1930s Geisha & Pagoda Octagonal Serving Platter Bowl Estate find: functional large octagonal serving bowl with a striking mix of Asian-inspired design with European porcelain craftsmanship. Great vintage condition consistent with its age. Pictures are part of the description, please check them & let me know if you require additional ones. Fascinating Fun Facts: • MZ Altrohlau, also known as Moritz Zdekauer Altrohlau, was a porcelain factory located in Altrohlau, Bohemia (now Stará Role, Czech Republic). • Founded in 1884. The factory operated until 1945 when it was nationalized after World War II. • The “MZ” double-headed eagle backstamp dates this piece to the 1918–1939 Czechoslovakia period. • European porcelain houses often produced Asian-inspired “Chinoiserie” patterns in the early 20th century to cater to Western fascination with Japanese and Chinese art.
