Description

condition: fair length overall (LOA): 21 make / manufacturer: Aquarius model name / number: 21 propulsion type: sail year manufactured: 1974 The Mele Malia, a 1974 Aquarius 21 sailboat for sale. She’s neither fast nor pretty, but is a fine cruiser for the Sound or Lake. Cosmetically she has a few blemishes, but nothing a little TLC in the hands of the right person can’t correct. A little paint and putty would pretty her up a bit. Her sails (a main and jib) are original from 1974, there are patches here and there and could probably use a couple more. The main issue is that she needs a new rudder. The Aquarius 21 is a fun family boat that is easy to trailer and easy to sail. It is completely self-righting even with the centerboard all the way up. Spacious self-bailing cockpit. With 665 pounds of ballast the Aquarius 21 can handle windy conditions without any problem. The pop top when up yields 5'9" of headroom. This boat can be trailered and towed by a standard Subaru (check your car’s specs), she weighs about ~1900 lbs. She has a galley sink and stove and can sleep 4 easily. I’ve used her on the Sound quite a bit and is a fun, although slow, sail. She has a 1988 9.9 hp mercury that goes with her that runs, but likely needs a tune-up. This is a project boat as is, she needs work, but most of it cosmetic (all except the rudder). The trailer has a little surface rust but fully functional and ready for the road. The Mele Malia will not be available for show this weekend, July 11-12, but otherwise available 9AM - 9PM as I work from home. If you want to look her over, please bring and wear a mask.
