Description

A stunning and quality Chinese Qing black cloisonne enamel lidded container dating from the latter 19th or early 20th century. The container is brass bodied with a copper finish and stands raised on a narrow round copper foot rim with slightly recessed base and is of wide squat round shape with a tightly fitted domed cover. The lower section has a metal rim with an inner metal upstand onto which the cover fits with a similar arrangement to the cover. Both sections are decorated with a very fine wirework patterning filled with black enamel the cover with a central Chinese Shou emblem, the character for longevity contained within a decorative border. The inner container and base are decorated in blue enamel. OBO
