This listing is for 2 cruisebooks from the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69). One is from the 1981/82 NATO-MED cruise. The IKE left Chesapeake Bay on August 20,1981 to participate in a multi country NATO exercise with 40 to 60 vessels. Following a visit to Puerto Ricco with operations in the Caribbean the IKE and her crew made way to Norfolk to prepare for their 6 month Med Cruise Deployment. This book has a third class petty officer collar insignia attached to the cover. It appears the owner punched it through the cover. (Tacked it on) Book number two is of the Eisenhower's 1983 6 month Mediterranean deployment. During this cruise, which began began on April 27,1983, the IKE and her crew spent an unprecedented 93 continuous days st sea. This cruise ended with tension between the United states and Libya. Both books are packed full of pictures of the Eisenhower's sailors, air crews and Marine attachments. See the training they underwent, the ports they visited, and the shenanigans of being a U.S. Navy sailor in the 80s. There is minor, age appropriate wear to both books.
