Description
In 1970 Gibson Guitars’ parent company, Chicago Musical Instruments Co., made the decision to outsource production of the entire Epiphone brand, moving production overseas as a cost-cutting move and selected Arai & Co., of Matsumoto, Nagano, Japan, the forerunner of the Aria Pro II brand. This beautiful classical guitar was made mostly by hand in Japan by Aria at the Matsumoku guitar factory. The EC-24 was the second-from-the-top model of classical guitars sold by Epiphone at the time (the similar but higher priced EC-25 featured a Cedar top instead of Spruce). It features a Spruce top, Rosewood sides and back, Rosewood fingerboard, bridge and headstock veneer. It’s a 25 5/8 scale with 19 frets. Wooden marquetry inlays around the sound hole and on the stripes on the headstock and bridge. Body and neck have some fine scratches and smudges but no dents, dings, cracks or damage anywhere. Comes with the original early 70s yellow velour plush hardshell case. Case is in great shape but has a few smudges and cosmetic defects where the trim glue has dried and the edging has pulled up.
