Description
Created by Oppenheimer himself! Trinitite is a glass-like material formed during the first ever atomic bomb test on July 16, 1945 (among the most consequential moments in human history). When the bomb detonated, the tower, wiring, desert sand, and the “gadget” itself were instantly vaporized. As the plume cooled down, it condensed into a liquid and rained back down to form puddles on the ground, eventually solidifying into the material now known as trinitite. Some trinitite was collected in the years after the test, but the US Army bulldozed the site in 1952, disposed of any material that remained, and made it illegal to collect. However, any material that was collected prior to this is still legal to own. These pieces were collected by Dr. Ralph Pray in 1951. The price listed is PER PIECE, not the entire case. NOTE: Trinitite is mildly radioactive (comparable to that of a smoke detector) but generally safe to handle as long as you do not consume or break it.
