Description
This is an antique (c. Late 1800s-1920s) African Turkana wrought iron wrist knife (Ararait) worn primarily by men of the Turkana tribe of Kenya. These rounded wrist knives may look like simple tribal adornments, but when the thin goat leather outer strip was removed these weapons were used for close combat. Additionally they served the utilitarian purpose of cutting meats. The handmade African metal axe head is a roughly-made beauty, and the pair would look magnificent alongside any African artifact collection! DIMENSIONS: Wrist Knife: 4.75" H x 5" W Axe Head: 6.75" L x 2.5" W
