You can either pedal or paddle (or both at the same time) this rarely-used and always-garaged portable kayak. Hobie invented the pedal-powered Mirage drive, which gives you a gentle lower-body workout, while sitting high above the water line, in a rigid-frame mesh seat with lumbar support, for comfort and safety. The underwater “penguin flippers” act as a keel that, together with the remote-controlled rudder, gives the kayaker remarkable directional control. Both the flippers and the rudder fold flat for easy beaching. This model is more stable than paddle boards, while being just as light (hull weighs 41 lbs) and portable (in the included wheeled bag). The big and light pump is comfortable to push/pull and inflates the kayak in a small number of strokes using three independent valves. It comes with seat, pump, bag, and a “plug-in cart” that can be stowed in the stern area.
