Description
The Recording King acoustic guitar is an excellent “parlor-style” instrument for anyone seeking a small body guitar suitable for small hands and playing seated on the couch. Its body shape and size as well as neck shape is super comfortable, and a perfect starter guitar. Its design is a throwback to the 1930’s and the early blues players. It’s strung with very light gauge strings (10’s) which make it very easy to play and easy on the fingers for beginners! Overview • The RPH-05 is part of Recording King’s Dirty 30’s series. • It’s a parlor-sized (or “Single 0”) acoustic guitar — smaller body, vintage look, very travel- or couch-friendly. • Designed to give that old-school, 1930s mail-order guitar vibe, with a satin sunburst finish, classic binding, and large position markers. • Very affordable for a solid-top parlor guitar. • Compact and travel-friendly. • Vintage aesthetic and styling are very appealing. • Good beginner or “second guitar” for casual playing. Feature Specification Model RPH-05 (“Dirty 30’s” Single-0) Body Shape Parlor / Single-0 Top Material Solid spruce Back & Sides Laminated “white wood” (Recording King’s term) Bracing Forward X-bracing, scalloped Neck Material Nato Neck Profile Contemporary “C” Neck Joint Dovetail Fretboard Rosewood, extra-large dot inlays Scale Length 25.4 in (645 mm) Frets 20 total; 12 clear to the body Nut Bone, 1-11/16″ (≈ 42.9 mm) width Bridge Rosewood, straight shape, bone saddle Tuning Machines Vintage-style, plastic (synthetic) buttons Binding Ivory-colored on the body Finish Satin Sunburst (matte) Hardware Nickel-plated String Configuration 6 strings Sound and Playability • Because of its parlor body size, it’s fairly compact and comfortable to hold; good for travel or informal playing. • The solid spruce top helps give it a more resonant, dynamic sound compared to laminate tops — especially as it ages. • The forward X-bracing allows for a good balance of strength and resonance. • It has a slightly bright but clear tone profile. Some players note a “boxy” or “tight” parlor-style resonance, which is typical for smaller bodies. Who It’s Good For • Beginner Players — Because of the manageable size and relatively low cost, it’s a solid choice for someone starting out. • Singer-Songwriters / Travel Players — If you want a small, portable guitar to write on or take around, this works well. • Vintage / Retro Style Lovers — The aesthetic is very 1930s — for players who like the look and feel of pre-war-style guitars. • Budget Acoustic with Solid Top — For the price, you’re getting a real solid-spruce top, which is pretty rare at very low to mid budget levels.
