Description
The plants are Pinguicula, known as butterworts. They have a sticky surface that attracts flies, which they slowly dissolve for nutrients. The long-leaved ones are Sundews, which produce a sticky, dew-like sap that traps flies, similarly dissolving them. These plants require distilled water, reverse osmosis water, or rainwater, as they do not thrive in soil that contains added nutrients. It is best to use pure sphagnum moss or peat moss, with a little organic perlite if desired. They can propagate through leaf cuttings or by splitting, creating clones of themselves. Interestingly, they can also grow on rocks.
