A rubber gasket lines one side of the case to provide a moderate amount of weatherproofing. Spring-loaded latches are riveted to the exterior of the case and a rod passes through all four latches that can be locked with a padlock for airline travel or to secure them. As shown in one of the pictures 2 of the 4 latches have a latch pin that popped out on one side of latch but should be a quick fix and doesn't effect lock ability or for case to stay closed as I have used it as it is for several years of trips.
