Description

1984 Trek 460 racing bike after full "nut and bolt" tear down and restoration, including paint touch up. 40 years old and it rides like an absolute dream! 24" frame (58cm equivalent) Nearly original (see the last picture from the 1984 catalog for comparison) with some important modifications: 1. The original Matrix Strada wheels were produced in 1984 only with Maillard Helicomatic hubs, which were notoriously problematic. I have gone with Matrix Titan Tech wheels with Shimano hubs and freehub from 1994. Same specifications and visually identical, but will be much more functional. You get an upgrade from original 6-speed to 7-speed as part of the deal. 2. Stem is from Belleri, as in the original specs, but the cutout if slightly different. 3. Trek no longer make dark tan wall tires, so I have gone with top-of-the-line Continental Grand Prix 5000 tan wall tires as a modern replacement. If you love the bike, but need to save some money, best thing is to bring your own tires and take $100 off (Conti GP5000s don't come cheap). I may have some spare tires in the garage I can throw on, but they won't look or ride as nice. Frame: Trek 460 24" frame (Tange 1000 double butted CroMo Steel) Headset: Tange MA-60 Wheels: Matrix Titan-Tech 700c 13/20 Hubs: Shimano EX100/Exage Tires: Continental Grand Prix 5000 700c 25mm Crankset: SR CRC-101 170mm 52/42t Chain: Shimano 8-speed w/ KMC quick link Front Derailleur: Shimano FD-Z206 Rear Derailleur: Shimano RD-Z505 Cassette: Shimano CS-HG50 7-speed 13-26t Shifters: Shimano Z408 (friction) Brakes: Dia-Compe 400 (side-pull) Brake Levers: Dia-Compe Gran-Compe Bars: Belleri Racing 40cm Stem: Belleri Aero 100mm Saddle: Avocet Racing I Seatpost: SR Laprade 27.2mm Pedals: SR SP-150 w/ toe cages and Lapize straps (not shown) Weight: under 23 lbs.
