Brand new. No lock/ key. And I think it might be missing two screws for the handles. We honestly can't remember how it goes. I think is 4 little screws. We just accidentally cut the tail too short so we ended up not using it. We bought it for the lock/ latch which is what we needed. And we just ended up using our old handles. If you have a lock/key it might work for you just to replace it onto this. And use your old screws as well. What you see in the picture is what it is.
