Description

This trumpet belonged to my late father, who played it for a year in about 1950 and then tucked it in his parents’ attic until I found it in 1979. I played it in my high school band until 1981, and as a camp counselor in Maine (think flag raising and evening Taps echoing over the river) the next summer. It was tucked away again in various closets until I (probably foolishly) tried to resurrect my moderate skill to volunteer playing Taps for deceased veterans. You get the complete package with everything needed for success, even a book on how to practice! The trumpet was professionally reconditioned in 2021 with new pads, etc, so is ready for a new home. I’ve shown it to a couple of military trumpeters and a professional jazz musician. All agreed it’s in wonderful shape for its age and should be played by someone who can appreciate having a really nice instrument. Their value estimates ranged from $600- $1,000 two years ago. The overall finish is unpitted and excellent, but unfortunately as a careless teen, I did crease the bell slightly and the repair is visible but doesn’t appear to hurt the sound quality. We’re sometimes in the Burbank or San Diego areas, so if you’re in Southern Californi, let me know. Also happy to respond to requests for specific pictures. The original case is included. It’s structurally very sound, but some of the side tape on the exterior is lifting. Likewise, books and an electronic tuner ($30 value) as shown in pics are included, and two mouthpieces (one Bach 3C and a Cecilio 5C) with one mouthpiece case. Listed on Reverb is my Duo-Cup 88C mouthpiece. If you tell me you want it, I’ll include it with a full price offer if it hasn’t sold separately.
