Antique Life-Size Religious Sculpture of Christ & Mary - La Pietà

Antique life-size religious sculpture depicting the Virgin Mary supporting the lifeless body of Jesus Christ after the Crucifixion. This devotional work originated from a church setting and was created to inspire contemplation, prayer, and reverence. The sculpture appears to be made of polychromed plaster or composition material. This was common for church sculptures from the late 19th to early 20th century, especially in Southern Europe and Latin Catholic regions. Antique condition with age-appropriate wear, including very light surface chips, paint loss, and patina consistent with long-term church display. No major breaks observed. Please review photos carefully. This is a powerful and rare devotional sculpture, ideal for a church, chapel, religious institution, museum display, or serious collector of sacred art.
