These samples are small reproductions of an original fire insurance plaque. Two rectangular brass plaques still available: -- Fire Engine UF (United Fireman’s Insurance Company) measures 3 ½” x 2 ¾” -- Man with bugle and torch, Associated Firemen’s Insurance Co., measures 3 ½” x 2 ½” All made of solid brass Both for $15 * Oval emblem, Mutual Assurance Company -- SOLD * Eagle INA (Insurance Company of North America) -- SOLD Fire insurance marks were metal plaques marked with the emblem of the insurance company which were affixed to the front of insured buildings as a guide to the insurance company's fire brigade. These identification marks were used in the eighteenth and nineteenth century.
