Description
Price: $69 — reasonable offers considered. A little piece of Japanese porcelain history, more than a century in the making. Long before Noritake became one of the world’s best-known porcelain names, the Morimura Brothers were bringing beautifully decorated Japanese ceramics into American homes. This elegant pierced-top porcelain piece bears their recognizable green “Hand Painted Nippon” M-in-Wreath backstamp, a mark associated with Japanese export porcelain from approximately 1911–1921. Its flowing silhouette is decorated with delicate ivory blossoms, soft pink and blue accents, graceful green foliage, and intricate raised gold-colored floral outlines. Tiny gilded beads trace the scalloped foot and upper rim. What makes it especially interesting is its unusual top. The larger central opening and smaller surrounding holes make it suitable for arranging delicate flower stems or displaying the long decorative hatpins associated with Edwardian fashion. Highlights: * Antique Japanese porcelain, attributed to the Morimura Brothers / early Noritake tradition * Circa 1911–1921, based on the historical backstamp * Hand-painted floral decoration with raised moriage-style gold detailing * Pierced top suitable for a floral arrangement or hatpin display * Elegant Art Nouveau-influenced design * Distinctive original-style green M-in-Wreath Nippon marking on the underside * It's 5 1/2 inch tall A beautiful collectible for admirers of early Japanese porcelain, antique vanity accessories, and romantic period décor. Condition: Antique, with age-related characteristics and decorative wear to be assessed from the accompanying photographs. Please examine the images of the top, floral details, and underside backstamp. A lovely opportunity to own a decorative object connected to the early history of Japanese porcelain exports.
