Description
This is a 1968 Sears Silvertone AM/FM/Phonograph Stereo Console, with a working tuner, amplifier, and speakers that still produce a rich golden sound. The turntable was working when we purchased it just a few years ago, but has since stopped spinning. (We hooked up a Bluetooth receiver to its aux jack and mostly used it as a huge wireless speaker.) The turntable may just need cleaning. Included is all of the original documentation: owner’s manual, technical manual, board diagram, and even the original purchase receipt from Sears on Geary Blvd in San Francisco in May 1968! (And a service receipt from 1998.) Thanks to the receipt and the manual we can determine that this is the 8086 “Contemporary” model with mid-century modern curves and sculptured legs. The cabinetry is structurally sound and in very good shape, though there are some faded dark circles on the top surface. It’s heavy but I can assist in loading it. (Fortunately there aren’t any stairs for us to negotiate on its way to a new home.)
