Description
These vintage pictures and frames are dated from the late 1950's/early 1960s. I believe these were handmade by a family friend. (I could be wrong.) Frame: 25"L x 21"W Photo: 19.5"L x 15.5"W Depth: Frame protrudes 3" from wall Decor historical Information: In the 1980s, whitewashing frames became a massive DIY trend as a reaction against the heavy, dark wood paneling and furniture of the 1970s. Homeowners wanted a lighter, more relaxed "country" or beach-inspired aesthetic. The 1980s Whitewash Look... * Thick Wood: Frames were generally thick and rigid, sometimes featuring heavy ridges or ornate details. * Washed Effect: Instead of solid paint, the technique lets the natural wood grain peek through. The look often served as a precursor to the 1990s "Shabby Chic" movement. * Placement: These frames were used everywhere—from bathrooms to bedrooms and living areas.
